Gallery 1202 is soliciting submissions for its last group show of the 2021 summer, (Self)LOVE. The show will be held from August 7-September 19, 2021. One artist from the show will be awarded a solo show at the gallery in 2022. Each participant will receive a batch of postcards to send out, and the entire exhibition will be recorded in 3D by Artland.

The opening reception will be August 7th from 5-8 PM.

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare.”

-Audre Lorde

The theme for this show centers around the importance of self-care, self-awareness, and mental health during not only the pandemic, but also the political upheaval of 2020 and beyond. Artists in particular carried heavy burdens in acting upon their beliefs by using their work to reach out and deliver their messages, and also in the massive uptick in visual consumption during the pandemic, especially for BIPOC artists. This call seeks submissions that represent, embody, or otherwise realize self-care lessons learned during the last 18 months, and the importance of self-preservation in times of unrest in whatever form that presented itself to the artist. All mediums are welcome.

Submission fee is $25 for 3 images, $5 per additional image.

All artists are welcome, regional, national and international. All mediums are welcome.
